A Pointing dogs job is to locate birds and then freeze completely, literally "pointing" their handler in the right direction. Equally important to a point dogs training is a solid retrieve. Once a bird is downed, the dog charges through the field and then delivers to hand. There are multiple pointing breeds eligible to compete in these events.
