Permanent Registration
The process by which an Application for Permanent Registration is filled out completely and submitted to UKC. The Application for Permanent Registration is a temporary application used to permanently register a dog whose litter has been registered, and which holds no rights and privileges regarding event participation and/or for that dog to be used for breeding.

Once the Application for Permanent Registration is filled out correctly, submitted, and processed, a Permanent Registration Certificate will be issued. Once a dog has been issued a Permanent Registration Certificate , it is entitled to all rights and privileges, providing all applicable UKC Rules & Regulations are followed.
Permanent Registration Transfer
The process by which a permanently registered dog has changed hands, and its Permanent Registration Certificate is completely filled out and submitted to UKC in order for the dog to be registered in the new registrant(s) name(s).
Permanent Registration/Transfer Procedures
In order for the Application for Permanent Registration or Permanent Registration Certificate Transfer to be processed:
The seller/Sole Signatory must sign the certificate exactly as it appears on the front. If the dog is registered in an and partnership, both co-registrants must sign.
The seller/Sole Signatory must include the date of sale.
Note: If the certificate is signed by the seller(s)/Sole Signatory but no purchase date is provided, the date the transfer is received at UKC will be listed as the purchase date.
The new registrant(s) must complete their information in the appropriate sections of the application.
In the Permanent Registration Transfer process, United Kennel Club does not allow the dog's name to be changed if one or both of the following has occurred:
- Once a dog has earned a UKC title, no part of the dog's name can be changed.
- Once the dog becomes a sire or dam of a UKC registered litter, no part of the dog's name can be changed.
If the conditions above do not apply, the following options are available:
- To change the dog's name on a Permanent Registration Transfer, the new registrant/Sole Signatory can fill in the new name on the back of the original Permanent Registration Certificate (provided it has been left blank by the seller), when submitting the Permanent Registration Transfer.
- To change the dog's name on a Permanent Registration Certificate , the current registrant/Sole Signatory can fill in the new name on the back of the Permanent Registration Certificate and submit the certificate to UKC with the fee for the specific registration package fee that is desired.
UKC reserves the right to deny a dog's name for any reason. Any name deemed discriminatory or derogatory towards race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin will be denied.
