Katina Childers
First Round

Katina Childers

Katina Childers
#7640

Katina Childers has been raising coonhounds with her husband, Rob, for about 20 years. Together, they have built their kennel foundation with the dual-purpose hound in mind. Their foundation sire, GR NITE CH GRCH 'PR' Key's Outlaw Razor Red, is the number one Historical Top Producing Redbone male.

Katina has campaigned and had success in the bench show arena and the conformation arena, and she has delved into obedience as well. At one time or another, Katina has campaigned six of the seven coonhound breeds. She is committed to producing hounds that have great balance, reach, and drive allowing them to stay true to the performance expectations of the breed.

Previous judging assignments include many breed days, state shows, AKC World Championship, PKC Spring Hunt, and Autumn Oaks.

HL Meyer, 2018 Coonhound World Judge

H L Meyer
#7824

I live in Fayetteville, Georgia, have three children, Mark, Lori and Noel; as well as four grandchildren and one great grandchild. My late wife, Dianne, and I were married for 54 years before losing her to cancer in 2017. I retired from a long career in law enforcement with the last ten years as the canine supervisor of three different groups of dogs 11 total: three Bloodhounds, two Labrador Retriever and six patrol Belgian Malinois. I was fortunate enough to attend seminars/classes conducted by some of the worlds best instructors. The seminars/classes included topics on canine anatomy, behavior and conditioning.

I have hunted for as long as I can remember. My dad hunted Foxhounds which led me to hunting my choice of hound an American Black & Tan Coonhound, which Ive hunted my entire life.

The dogs of Shawnee Hills Kennel have been a blessing through the years. Ive shown in every major event in the coonhound world, placing in all of them. The backbone of this breeding program and of these dogs has been Mike Seets, a friend and handler, and my late wife, Dianne. Along the way we were fortunate enough to have World Champions in three registries. In UKC, I was fortunate to hold two Overall World Show Champion wins, with one in 2004, a Black & Tan World Champion breed winner and littermate to the Overall World Bench Show Champion.

I have judged local club events, state event in AKC, World Champion events in PKC, RQEs, and youth events in UKC as well as Winter Classic. I have also judged Grand American, St Jude, and I attended the UKC judging seminar in Batesville, Mississippi.

In closing, I would like to thank the staff of UKC for this honor of judging the Final Round of the 2018 UKC World Coonhound Bench Show Championship.
