Dive Right In

What better way to enjoy a hot summer afternoon than with fellow dog people at a UKC Dock Jumping event? Here's how you can dive right in!

Any currently licensed UKC club is encouraged to contact the UKC All-Breed Sports department to add dock jumping to their club license. Once approved, your club can choose to use equipment you own or to use a third-party facility to host dock jumping events. Additionally, if there is a dog club in your area not yet licensed but interested in becoming licensed for UKC dock jumping, they can begin by emailing clubs@ukcdogs.com

Any pre-approved licensed club with a UKC dock jumping license can host UKC dock jumping as a stand-alone sport or in conjunction with a larger show.

There is not one main host organization for UKC dock jumping other than UKC itself. This creates opportunities for dock jumping clubs to become licensed directly with UKC to host UKC Licensed Dock Jumping events. Is there a dog facility in your town with a pool? Perhaps they'd like to host UKC jumps!

If you haven't dock jumped yet this year, here are some changes from 2020 you can look forward to on the dock. Participants now have the opportunity to complete three splashes back-to-back while on the dock, which helps splashes run efficiently. No need to worry about ring conflicts - simply show up poolside to get your jumps done all at once!

Every qualifying jump a dog completes counts towards a UKC Dock Jumping title! This means dogs can earn titles in different distance divisions simultaneously. In UKC dock jumping, your dog wont be penalized for jumping bigger or smaller than usual. It will all be recorded.

Want to invite a friend to an upcoming dock jumping event? Their dog does not need to have a UKC registration number at the time of the event to participate in UKC Dock Jumping! Instead, non-UKC registered dog can be entered for an additional $5 fee at the time of the event. Owners of non-registered dogs have a full 60 days to complete their UKC registration paperwork for any points earned to be valid. Once the registration is complete, their jumps will be recorded by UKC and any eligible title certificates will be issued at that time!

Dogs sports thrive when active competitors, like you, invite more people to play along. A wide variety of dog breeds are successful in the sport of dock jumping. The ease of obtaining a club license directly through UKC and the participant-friendly way of earning points and titles no matter the distance makes UKC dock jumping a great choice for many clubs. Send this news item to your club board to get the discussion started!

Guided by the belief that dogs make a difference by being the best partner a human can have in the field, on the job, or in a competition event, UKC is a community for people and dogs to pursue excellence together. Founded in 1898, UKC has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of Dogs That Do More, and their owners, by providing essential resources to help owners and breeders make informed decisions. The dog-human bond is celebrated through family-friendly programs highlighting the instincts and heritage of purebred and mixed-breed dogs alike at over 15,000 licensed events annually.
