Judge Of The Year Nominee

  • Hans Schubert

I would like to recognize this season's 1st Quarter Judge of the Year nominee, Hans Schubert. Fourteen recorded assignments are no small feat. He has worked as a diligent member of the shed dog community to ensure your dogs were able to run and that the sport standards were upheld. Thanks for your time and effort, Hans!

Club Of The Year Nominee

  • Oh Deer Antler Dogs

This quarter's Club of the Year Nominee, Oh Deer Antler Dogs, averages 42 dogs each day of their 3-day event this quarter. A lot goes into hosting large shed dog events, and we appreciate all of their efforts!

Honorable Mention: I would also like to recognize one of our newer clubs, Minnesota Area Scenting & Shed Hunting (MASSH), whose event averaged 40 dogs over 3 days, which is a terrific accomplishment for a newer club. Keep up the great work! I can't wait to see how many entries their Dog of the Year event draws later this year!

Youth Handler Of The Year Nominee

  • Zach Meadows

Congrats to Zach for being at the top of the leaderboard this quarter with 49.75 points!

Ambassador Of The Year Nominee

The ambassador of the year is a unique award because there is no metric used to calculate who was the most involved or helpful over the past three months. If somehow we did quantify this award, we would have a tie between countless people every quarter. This sport is driven forward by the welcoming, respectful, and helpful nature of all the participants. Ambassadors and nominees, past, present, and future, should hold themselves to a higher standard and be role models for new and existing members.

  • Matt Hatcher

I am privileged to recognize Matt Hatcher for this quarter's Ambassador of the Year nomination. His peers speak highly of his dedication to the sport. His friendly, helpful attitude is exemplified by his eagerness to help at any trial he is at, whether by being a planter, his contribution of his equipment during trials, or just being present to offer a kind word after a tough run. He possesses a passion for developing the next generation of shed dog handlers and engages with the youth program in any way he can to encourage the development of our youth handlers. Thank you, Matt, for your participation in the sport, and congratulations on your recognition for the Ambassador of the Year nomination.

Guided by the belief that dogs make a difference by being the best partner a human can have in the field, on the job, or in a competition event, UKC is a community for people and dogs to pursue excellence together. Founded in 1898, UKC has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of Dogs That Do More, and their owners, by providing essential resources to help owners and breeders make informed decisions. The dog-human bond is celebrated through family-friendly programs highlighting the instincts and heritage of purebred and mixed-breed dogs alike at over 18,000 licensed events annually.
