The recent cancellation of the 2020 UKC Elite Shed Dog Series Nationals due to the COVID-19 health and safety measurements has brought up some questions concerning the status of the Season 3 Dog Of The Year and Youth Of The Year award season. The general nature of these questions concerns the conclusion of the Season 3 event year. After much discussion it has been determined that Season 3 will conclude on the originally scheduled conclusion date of April 12, 2020; two weeks prior to the originally scheduled date of the National Championship.

While we realize the potential cancellation of upcoming events will create a situation where some dogs are unable to complete qualifying requirements, it must be taken into consideration that some dogs have already completed qualifying requirements for Season 3. United Kennel Club appreciates the input we have received from individuals around the country but it is felt that our only option in fairness to all is to stand by the original dates and qualifying requirements set forth at the start of Season 3.

Though it is unfortunate that this situation involving the health of our country has affected the opportunity of individuals in our sport, we are reminded that we are not the only sport dealing with such challenges. We thank everyone in advance for your patience and understanding.

Guided by the belief that dogs make a difference by being the best partner a human can have in the field, on the job, or in a competition event, UKC is a community for people and dogs to pursue excellence together. Founded in 1898, UKC has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of Dogs That Do More, and their owners, by providing essential resources to help owners and breeders make informed decisions. The dog-human bond is celebrated through family-friendly programs highlighting the instincts and heritage of purebred and mixed-breed dogs alike at over 15,000 licensed events annually.
