DOG OF THE WEEK
In last week's Dog of the Week section, I mentioned that there are currently five hounds with dual Hall of Fame titles. We have talked about four of them, Hardys Fabous River Katie in the 7th Edition, Hogans Ruby in the 8th Edition, Caldwells Southern Belle in the 12th Edition, and Hogans Kujo in the 25th Edition. Today we are going to talk about the newest one, CCH GRFCH GRCHHOF GRWCHHOF 'PR' Scarberry's Mark of Carbon. Lets find out more about him!
Name: CCH GRFCH GRCHHOF GRWCHHOF 'PR' Scarberry's Mark of Carbon
Breed: American Black and Tan Coonhound
Date of Birth: 8/20/2016
Owned by: Kolby & Robert Scarberry of Glenwood, West Virginia
Bred by: Kolby Scarberry
Three-Generation Pedigree:
--- GRNITECH GRCH'PR'PATENT PENDING'S CARBON COPY
- GRCH'PR'SHAWNEE HILLS SHADES OF CARBON HTX
--- GRCH'PR'BLACK GOLD'S BLACK RAVEN
CCH GRFCH GRCHHOF GRWCHHOF'PR'SCARBERRY'S MARK OF CARBON
--- GRNITECH GRCH'PR'SHAKER-HILL SHO-GUN
- GRCH'PR'SCARBERRY'S MIDNITE BLACK GEM
--- CH'PR'BB RM NC LITTLE N MT MILLIE
Carbons first Hall of Fame title was earned in August of 2022 when he became a GRCHHOF. But you dont just start there. He earned it, starting with his first category win back in August of 2017. Almost a year to the day in 2018, Carbon finished to CH. He then achieved his 8th Champion category win in May of 2020 to finish to GRCH. In just over two years, Carbon won the 40 GRCH categories required to finish to GRCHHOF. As he currently sits, he has 41 GRCH wins.
During that same time frame, he was also accruing wins toward his Field Trial titles. He got his first points in April of 2018 and then quickly finished to WCH in June of 2018. Then Carbon turned around and finished to GRWCH in May of 2019. Then in June of 2025, after six years of accruing wins, Carbon became just the fourth hound to finish to GRWCHHOF. One of the toughest titles to achieve in our Coonhound Program.
In the meantime, Carbon also finished to GRFCH and earned his Conformation title, but those dual Hall of Fame titles have cemented Carbons legacy on the shortlist of top dual purpose hounds.
