Welcome to the 25th Edition of the UKC Coonhound Weekly Bulletin! It was a busy summer and early fall in the program. With leaves changing and temperatures dipping, I know most of the readers are getting pumped up for the upcoming season. I wish you all safe hunting, and plenty of success, however it is you define that. To some its a full tailgate. To some its getting that young hound tuned up for upcoming competitions. For some its a release from work and school and activities. For me, Im looking forward to getting my daughters out there and hopefully seeing them enjoy some of the same things I enjoy. Lets see what this weeks bulletin has in store.
PAST EVENTS
By all accounts it seems like there were some super successful events over the weekend. As reports come in, Ill get them typed up and posted on the Coonhound Standings/Results page.
UPCOMING EVENTS
We are definitely coming into a slower time of year with all the hunting seasons opening up. Having said that, there is still something just about every weekend to satisfy your itch to compete. Be sure you are staying up to date on all the hunts, shows, and day events, right here on the Coonhound Events Calendar.
There are no events to share on the Major Events or Youth Championship Schedules this weekend.
WHATS HAPPENING?
As we have been alluding to the past few weeks, the Top Ten Bench Show series year is winding down rapidly! By what I can see, you have two full weekends, and a Friday left to rack up points, and some of the races are tight ones to see who will be representing their breed in Batesville. See the standings here: Top Ten Bench Show Standings
There are two Pro Slams coming up the next few weeks. Right now entries are full for the MS State Pro Slam and they are rolling in sporadically for the SETWA Pro Slam. See information below.

DOG OF THE WEEK
Updating the Hall of Fame list added several new hounds to the pool to choose from for the Dog of the Week section. Right away, several stood out to me but Im going to start out with the newest dual Hall of Fame titled hound, GRNITECH GRFCH(2) GRWCHHOF GRCHHOF 'PR' Hogan's Kujo HTX. This isnt the first time that one of Lee Hogans hounds has been featured on here. Back in the 8th Edition we talked about his female, Ruby, who is actually a half-sister to this hound out of the same mother. Now lets find out a little more about Kujo.
Name: GRNITECH GRFCH(2) GRWCHHOF GRCHHOF 'PR' Hogan's Kujo HTX
Breed: Bluetick Coonhound
Date of Birth: 7/24/2018
Owned by: Lee Hogan of Rudolph, Wisconsin
Bred by: Lee Hogan
Three-Generation Pedigree:
--- 'PR'DD RIVERBEND BLUE BUCK
- NITECH CH'PR'MEADOW VALLEY YODELER
--- GRCH'PR'DD RIVERBEND BLUE KAYT
GRNITECH GRFCH(2) GRWCHHOF GRCHHOF'PR'HOGAN'S KUJO HTX
--- GRNITECH'PR'DEANS BLUE MOSE
- GRWCH GRNITECH GRCH'PR'HOGAN'S JAZZ HTX2
--- NITECH CH'PR'SHANIAS' AMAZING GRACE
The road to being a four-way grand cant be an easy one. Lee seems to enjoy that challenge with his hounds. He typically even throws in a conformation or HTX title as well, just for good measure. For Kujo, his first grand title would have been GRCH. That trek started back in July of 2019 when he was just a few days shy of a year old. He got his first points then, and then in June of 2020 he finished to CH. Several months later in November of 2020, he finished out to GRCH. Then comes the unbelievably tedious part. 40 GRCH wins to get that GRCHHOF title. He ended up chipping away at it and on July 5, 2025, he got that last win in Brooklyn, Wisconsin to get his GRCHHOF title.
Ive never hunted with him, but Kujo has proved his worth in the woods as well. As a young hound, he got the three HTX passes required to get that title added to the end of his name. Then in the Nite Hunts, he finished to NITECH in August of 2022, then achieved the GRNITECH title with a cast win in August of 2023. In the middle of 2020, Kujo also started his climb through the Field Trial ranks. He finished to FCH in August of 2020 and then to GRFCH in July of 2021. Currently he is a GRFCH(2) with eight Grand wins.
I have had the opportunity to watch Kujo swim several times and he was exceptional in the water. In what must have been a busy summer of 2020, he finished to WCH in July of 2020. Four months later he finished to GRWCH in October of 2020. In May of 2023, he finished to GRWCHHOF and actually has a few wins to spare with 45 Grand wins currently on his record.
Kujo is one of those versatile hounds that many strive to have. At this moment, he is one of only five hounds to have achieve dual Hall of Fame titles in the registry. One of the more impressive things about him was his ability to win in multiple states and at a lot of major breed and state level events. A truly notable feat for a very memorable hound!
