Coonhound Bloodlines Retires After Five Decades
Subscribers Continue Their Journey at American Field, Where Tradition Lives On
September 29, 2025
Since 1973, Coonhound Bloodlines has been the premier magazine for the serious coon hunter, capturing the essence of coonhound culture through articles, stories, event coverage, and esteemed recognition of the hounds and hunters who left their mark in the pages of history. More than just a magazine, it became an integral part of the UKC coonhound program as a community of fellowship, storytelling, tradition, and a celebration of the coonhound lifestyle. Competitors and coon hunters have also stayed connected on news, updates, and the happenings of our coonhound program though our digital expansions, including our website, social media, Hunting Ops podcast, and weekly email and bulletin. We want to thank you and all our faithful readers, who for over five decades have shared their lives with one another, with us, and who have paved the path for the future of coon hunting. It is with both a fond remembrance of the past and a hopeful optimism for the future that we are retiring this beloved publication. Our December issue will be the final printing of Coonhound Bloodlines.
As we continue to respond to the changes of the world and those evolutions within our business, we are excited to invite you to join our growing community of hunting dog owners at American Field, a legacy brand that has been in existence since 1874 covering all dogs together and celebrating the outdoor sporting spirit. The recently relaunched American Field is now a 100-page quarterly editorial publication focused on storytelling, community, and showcasing captivating photography and literary works that chronicle our lives with all types of hunting dogs, including hounds and tree dogs, retrievers, beagles, bird dogs, and other sporting and working dogs. American Field also embraces the outdoor lifestyle with insightful articles on wild game cooking, conservation matters, hunting dog health, and guns and game shooting topics. To top it off, it also includes art, poetry, humor, history, and other literary and artistic works for those who favor a day in the field with a faithful dog at their side.
For those customers who have three or more issues remaining on their balance at Coonhound Bloodlines as of January 1, 2026, your subscription will migrate to American Field, beginning with our Spring 2026 issue which will arrive in mailboxes by late February. And to help welcome this next chapter of UKC publications, the spring issue of American Field will feature an extended, dedicated section to coonhound content nearly a quarter of the entire issue!
Rest assured, all active subscriptions will be honored and you don't need to do anything to start receiving American Field. In addition to those migrating their subscription to American Field, we'd also like to extend our gratitude for your continued business by sharing a $10 digital gift coupon to all Coonhound Bloodlines subscribers. Your gift will be good for use on our online registration and event entry forms. A follow-up letter with a personalized coupon code and detailed instructions for use will be mailed separately.
This is not an end so much as it is an evolution and an invitation. By integrating the coonhound community with the iconic American Field brand, coon hunters will gain a larger platform to share their story alongside other hunting dog user groups while still retaining their distinct identity and respected space for their particular time-honored traditions.
We are grateful for your trust and loyalty as a Coonhound Bloodlines subscriber, and now invite you to join our movement with the American Field brand to unify our collective voices, embrace change, and eagerly look forward to carrying out the legacy of hunting dogs and sporting enthusiasts for the future.
