Brandon Scalf Field Rep

We are pleased to introduce Brandon Scalf of Annville, Kentucky to our team of Coonhound Field Representatives. When asked to introduce himself to the public, Brandon sent the following:

"My Name is Brandon Scalf. I was born, raised, and currently reside in Jackson County, Kentucky in a small town called Annville. Jackson County is warmly nestled on top of the Cumberland Plateau in the heart of Rural Appalachia. Jackson County has a friendly, down home, love your neighbor atmosphere with only one stoplight and 62 thousand acres of Daniel Boone National Forest. A place where hard work, a firm handshake, and coonhunting is second nature.

As a small kid, not big enough to stomp down a green briar, I remember begging my dad to go coonhunting with him. At eight years old I was allowed to tag along with the pack dogs. At age 12, I bought my first dog with money I had saved. His name was Yadkin River Joe. He was a Treeing Walker pup that went back to Rattler. With a touch of beginners' luck, I won the first cast that I entered at Jackson County Coon Club at 16 years old.

In 2007 I married my wife, Jayla Hignite Scalf. It was at this point we realized that we longed to start a family and call Jackson County home. Together we have a 12-year-old son named Tucker and an 8-year-old daughter named Josie. Watching my children grow and become involved in coonhunting gave me a new excitement for the sport I have always loved.

I have been very fortunate in being able to compete and have judged at the Grand American, Winter Classic, Autumn Oaks, World Hunt, TOC, and every club hunt in between with my two favorite spectators. I am both humbled and grateful for the opportunity to be a part of the UKC team in a family environment that fosters positivity and friendship. The "Good old Days" are today! I hope you all have a great day, a better Nite Hunt, and a Merry Christmas."

Brandons responsibilities as a UKC Coonhound Field Rep will include serving as an event official in events such as the Coonhound World Championship, UKC Tournament of Champions, Autumn Oaks, Winter Classic, and any other assignments that might come along. UKC looks forward to working with Mr. Scalf. Please join us in welcoming him to an outstanding group of individuals who are currently serving as well as those who have served in the past.

Guided by the belief that dogs make a difference by being the best partner a human can have in the field, on the job, or in a competition event, UKC is a community for people and dogs to pursue excellence together. Founded in 1898, UKC has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of Dogs That Do More, and their owners, by providing essential resources to help owners and breeders make informed decisions. The dog-human bond is celebrated through family-friendly programs highlighting the instincts and heritage of purebred and mixed-breed dogs alike at over 18,000 licensed events annually.
