United Kennel Club (UKC) is excited to once again welcome exhibitors and dog fanciers of all kinds to the Bell County Expo Center, in Belton, Texas, for the 2023 UKC Southern Classic.

Like the Eastern, Western, and Midwest Classics, the UKC Southern Classic was known by another name--in this case, the Texas Classic--before it was rebranded in 2021.

The first Texas Classic was in the early 2000's, before a number of the sports that make up the current version of the event were officially licensed by UKC. Today, this fun, family-friendly event features Conformation (regular and altered), Nosework (licensed 2015), Rally Obedience (2008), and Weight Pull (2002). In addition, UKC will host SPOT (Socialized Pet Obedience Test) trials at the event, a program added to UKCs portfolio in 2016, to help dogs and owners set an example for responsible dog ownership and appropriate behavior both on leash and in the presence of other dogs.

Like all other UKC Classics, the Southern Classic is also considered a Regional Qualifying Event for the Total Dog Invitational. Dogs earning a Total Dog award at this event--meaning that the dogs earn a qualifying score in a performance event and win an award in Conformation--will be qualified for the Total Dog Invitational. However, the way the competition year falls means that the Southern Classic, like the Eastern Classic this past September, will be a qualifier for the 2024 Total Dog Invitational, not this year's version.

For those attending, or even just those interested, the Premium List for this years event can be found on our event page.

In addition, the Judging Program can also be found on the event page.

Join us in Belton, Texas, as the UKC All-Breed Sports team heads to the Lone Star State to celebrate Dogs That Do More!

Guided by the belief that dogs make a difference by being the best partner a human can have in the field, on the job, or in a competition event, UKC is a community for people and dogs to pursue excellence together. Founded in 1898, UKC has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of Dogs That Do More, and their owners, by providing essential resources to help owners and breeders make informed decisions. The dog-human bond is celebrated through family-friendly programs highlighting the instincts and heritage of purebred and mixed-breed dogs alike at over 18,000 licensed events annually.
