2021 UKC Triple Crown Winner: NITECH 'PR' Stylish Slide

Congratulations to William Wood and Justin Wallace on this accomplishment

October 1, 2021

NITECH 'PR' Stylish Slide, owned by William Wood & Justin Wallace, of Lexington, Tennessee
DOB: November 8, 2012
Breed: Treeing Walker Coonhound
Sire: 'PR' Stylish Jeff
Dam: 'PR' Riverbend Holly

The UKC Triple Crown Challenge, sponsored by United Kennel Club, rewards the outstanding coonhound who earns the most Triple Crown points at the Winter Classic, Autumn Oaks and the World Championship. The winner receives $3,000 and a jacket courtesy of UKC. A dog must have participated in all three events to be eligible for the award.

After the first leg of the Triple Crown, the double cast winners at the Winter Classic held in Batesville, Mississippi would set the pace for the 2021 Triple Crown Challenge. One Black & Tan, four Blueticks, three English, and seven Treeing Walkers made up the 15 frontrunners, all tied with 100 Triple Crown points.

Then came the second leg at Autumn Oaks in Richmond, Indiana. Out of the 15 double cast winners at Winter Classic, only one hound was able to add a cast win and 50 points to his resume at Oaks. The dog standing alone atop the standings was an 8-year-old Treeing Walker male named NITECH PR Stylish Slide, owned by William Wood and Justin Wallace of Lexington, Tennessee. At this point, there were 21 other hounds tied with 100 points that were still within shouting distance going into the last leg of the yearly series.

Going into the third and final leg of the Triple Crown, the World Championship, Slide and a handful of the hounds tied for second had punched their ticket to the Zones. Slide was entered into Zone 4, in Imboden, Arkansas. As results rolled in, I knew that he could put the series away with a double-cast win at the Zones. If he were to win one cast, it would require a dog to double up at the Zones and make it to the Final Cast of the World Championship to beat him. It is safe to say he was in a good position.

As the weekend came to a close, Slide had a cast win under his belt but was unable to advance to the World Finals. However, none of the other dogs were able to put themselves into a position to beat him, ending their chances at the 2021 Triple Crown, and making him the winner.

Congratulations to William Wood and Justin Wallace on their accomplishment with NITECH PR Stylish Slide the 2021 UKC Triple Crown Champion. They join the following elite group of hounds and owners who have won this award:
