UKC Elite Awards are Presented By Bone Clone

Bone Clone

The Elite Award Committee has reviewed data pertinent to each category for the annual Elite Awards sponsored by Bone Clone and is ready to make second quarter nominations.

The UKC slogan of "Honor To Whom, Honor Is Due" seems most appropriate as these dogs and individuals are great representatives of the UKC Elite Shed Dog Series. The UKC Elite Shed Dog Series would not be where it is today without the effort and support stemming from each of these categories.

DOG OF THE YEAR RETRIEVER BREEDS NOMINEE

  • ESD Long Spurs Diamond In The Ruff, Rusti Henderson, IN

Ruff had a great summer hitting podiums at the Elite Shed Dog Series events. A total of seven starts earned Ruff and Rusti four placements which is an outstanding placement percentage. Leaders in this category are getting bunched up and we will announce the top five or so dogs in a news item to follow.

DOG OF THE YEAR NON-RETRIEVER BREEDS NOMINEE

  • CHSD King Of The Mountain Monte, Border Collie, Kellie Curtis, MI

We have been hearing rumblings of a Border Collie soon to make a name for himself in the shed dog events. Looks like that day has come for Monte and owner Kellie Curtis. Im guessing few will be surprised to see this breed excel in the sport having a reputation for possessing traits such as speed and intelligence. Congrats to our first Border Collie nominee!

WORKING CLASS DOG OF THE YEAR NOMINEE

  • WSD5 Gobblers Knob Remi, Tom Rilea, IL

Remi overtakes kennel mate Nova in the chase for Working Dog Of The Year. Congrats to Tom Rilea and family for a great 2nd quarter and the nomination in this class designed to recognize up and coming dogs and handlers.

YOUTH HANDLER OF THE YEAR NOMINEE

  • Parker Lewis and Levi Lewis, OH

The Lewis brothers tie this quarter which is usually the case. No doubt some friendly, brotherly competition runs just as strong as brotherly love. A total of 40 youth handlers have earned passes in the first two quarters which is a great show of support. Things look bright for the future of our sport!

JUDGE OF THE YEAR NOMINEE

  • Rob Lewis, OH

Congrats to Rob Lewis for this nomination. Rob has unselfishly made himself available to judge our dogs since the very beginning of this program. When it comes to balancing the roles of event host, competitor, coach and judge, nobody does a better job than Rob. He is a great role model for everyone involved in this sport.

CLUB OF THE YEAR NOMINEE

  • Great Lakes Antler Dogs, MI

Great Lakes Antler Dogs topped all clubs this quarter with the highest average entry per event. This is a dedicated group that not only receives much outside support from others but also provides much support to other clubs in the program. Give and you shall receive! We are very proud to see a Michigan club be nominated in this very important category.

AMBASSADOR OF THE YEAR NOMINEE

  • Jeff Rada, WI

Jeff Rada receives this nomination from his peers in the shed dog family. This category is for those that go above and beyond to advance the sport of shed dogs and nobody exemplifies this more than Jeff. No matter what he is asked he is always willing to support clubs and individuals in the ESDS program. The fact that someone can have had as much success as Jeff and his family have over the years and still be nominated by many for this category speaks volumes about the type of person they are. Well deserved.
