Purina National Championship: Over $7,000 in Cash Awards!

April 28 & 29 at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Salem, Illinois

April 25, 2017

Any dog having won its category at any Purina Points event, excluding any part of the World Championship, was eligible to have been invited to participate in the non licensed Purina National Championship, coming up this weekend, April 28 & 29, in Salem, Illinois. The previous year’s Purina Series breed winners, and dogs that were in the Final Cast of the UKC World Championship Finals were also eligible to have entered by the pre-entry deadline (April 7).

"The Purina Nationals is a very unique event for several reasons," UKC Senior Director of Hunting Events Allen Gingerich began.

"Only those dogs that won their category at a Purina Points State Championship are eligible to participate. Therefore the Nationals draws its entry from several different states, but only a select few hounds from each state. It's West Virginia against Wisconsin and Oklahoma against North Carolina competing on neutral ground in Illinois. Add the prestige of winning the Nationals against the best of the best winners; it's a recipe for a very exciting event!" Gingerich added.

There’s a grand total of $5,000 up for grabs to the nite hunt winners, and each highest advancing dog of breed will receive $500 cash award. The Purina National Nite Hunt Champion receives a $2,000 cash award (which includes breed winner money). Additionally, the overall winner receives a six (6) month supply of Purina Dog Food (provided the owner(s) is an active Pro-Club member).

The bench show awards are equally as impressive, with a grand total of $2,250 available. Each Breed Winner receives $250, and the Overall Bench Show Winner earns an additional $500. Additionally, the overall winner receives a six (6) month supply of Purina Dog Food (provided the owner(s) is an active Pro-Club member).

Best of luck to everyone entered!
