The Feist Rules Committee, made up of three representatives of the Mountain Feist Association and three representatives of the United Treeing Feist Association, recently discussed and voted on the proposals that were submitted and presented to them. The following two changes were approved and passed by the committee to officially go into effect on September 1, 2022. The Feist Rulebook will be updated and made available to reflect these changes.

  1. Handling a Dog on Split Tree While Search Time is Running on a Tree
    (a) Change, modify, or include Rule 2(e) to state and allow a dog to be declared treed but handler(s) may not leave the cast during the scoring of a tree, while search time is running, to go handle a dog on a split tree.

  2. Change Tiebreaker Rules to:
    (a) The dog with the most circle points.
    (b) If still a tie, the dog taht has the most plussed first trees.
    (c) If still a tie, the dog with the least minus points.
    (d) If still a tie, the dogs involved to hunt in sudden death. The first dog to receive plus, minus, or circle points, shall end the overtime hunt and determine the winner. Points awarded shall not be reflected on the original score. No more than 15 minutes shall be used. The return deadline shall be extended 15 minutes for this cast only.
(d-2) If breaking tie involves tied score between multiple casts, sudden death is not an option. Skip (d) and follow d-2. If there is a previous round score to consider, such as in elimination style events, use that previous round score here. If not, skip both d) and d-2) and go directly to e).
    (e) If still a tie, flip a coin.
