- The frequency rates are available for contracted advertisers. The program is very flexible; please call for details.
- Color ad frequency and repeated rates are dependent upon the subject (dog being advertised) remaining the same. Other minimal changes will not incur other costs. Premium and Reserve pages must be booked in advance. Please call for availability.
- Specific Page Number Request, add 15%. (Does not apply to Reserved Pages.)
DESIGN ASSISTANCE
Design assistance is available at no extra charge. UKC has a talented and experienced design staff that will cater to your specific layout ideas. You can preview your ad by e-mail or fax.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Please include a stamped, self-addressed envelope to ensure the return of your valuable photos.
- Photographs in the form of 35 mm glossy prints reproduce the best. Please note: do not cut your photos. If you want them cropped, just indicate how you want them cropped. We will crop them electronically without harming the original photo.
- Photos sent via e-mail will only be accepted under the following parameters: Black & white photos must be scanned at no less than 300 dpi and sent in tif format. Color photos must be scanned at no less than 600 dpi and sent in tif or jpeg format.
- We prefer to not use printouts of low-end digital photos. We will evaluate any that are sent in and notify you if we question the quality.
- IMPORTANT ... Advertising not paid for within 30 days will be assessed a 1 1/2% late charge per month. The charge for a returned check is $25 per item.
HUNTING RETRIEVER Classified Advertising
30¢ per word, $5 minimum. Classified ads may be submitted via fax, e-mail, or regular mail. There is no billing for classifieds. Payment must accompany the ad.
We accept VISA, MasterCard, check, or money order. Please do not send cash as we cannot be held responsible for stolen mail.
All classifieds appearing in HUNTING RETRIEVER will also be posted on UKC’s website.
DEADLINE INFORMATION
HUNTING RETRIEVER is a bi-monthly magazine. The deadline for each issue is always the 15th of the month, one month prior to the respective issue. For example, the deadline for the December 2005 / January 2006 issue was November 15, 2005. Deadlines are strictly followed so that production goes smoothly, which in turn allows HUNTING RETRIEVER to be mailed on its scheduled mailing date. We strongly recommend sending your ad or editorial material 7-10 business days prior to the deadline; Priority Mail or Next Day Air anytime after that to ensure we have your material by deadline. Any ad or editorial material received after the deadline will be held over for the next issue.

"Exercise Induced Collapse Syndrome (EIC) in Labrador Retrievers

In August 2008 the Veterinary Diagnostic Lab (VDL) University of Minnesota EIC research team, in collaboration with the University of Saskatchewan and the University of California-San Diego, identified the EIC gene and developed a DNA testing program for the disease. The program took nearly a decade of work and comprehensive investigation by the teams of medical professionals at these institutions... the disease is reported to be widespread, with only 53 percent of the test dogs showing a NORMAL report.
What is Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC)? The EIC researchers state that dogs affected with EIC can tolerate mild to moderate exercise, but 5 to 20 minutes of strenuous exercise with extreme excitement induces weakness and then collapse...
