Cold weather tips to keep your dog safe this winter

Your dog needs a warm, dry shelter and should always have fresh water. Regularly check on your dog and watch for any changes in behavior.

Keep holiday decorations and electrical devices out of reach, view things from a dog’s-eye view.

Brave the cold with your dog. Take a few short walks a day to keep active and help your dog stay on schedule.

Keep in mind:

  • Special care should be given to older dogs.
  • Anti-freeze has a sweet taste and is highly toxic– keep it and all chemicals safely stored out of reach and clean spills immediately.
  • Clean your dog’s paws with water after walking in areas where products that melt ice and snow may have been used; these products can irritate your dog’s paws and are toxic if ingested.
