Trimming Your Dog's Nails

Nail trimming should be a positive experience for your canine companion. There are a couple of ways to clip your dog’s nails. You may use clippers preferably with two cutting edges. The other tool you can use is a dremel (rotary tool). Shown below:





When using the dremel, make sure to move any hair yours or the dogs to prevent any inconvience.



Make sure to introduce your dog to the tool you are going to use. Be positive and give treats when the dog shows interest in the tool. Make sure when you clip the dogs nails to not clip the quick (pink part of nail) as it contains nerves and blood cells. You may have cotton balls or quick stop on hand if needed.

Redbone Coonhound

The Redbone was the second coonhound breed to be registered with UKC, the first being registered in 1902, two years after the American Black & Tan. The Redbone is known to be a well-balanced breed, making them adaptable to various types of hunting and terrain. Their agility benefits them when hunting in fenced country or steep, rocky ground. Redbones are known to make excellent water dogs.
