My name is Skye Lambert. I am 8 years old. We have 13 American Pit Bull Terriers we show them and weight pull them in UKC, ADBA, APBA and sometimes in the NKC and IWPA. Every day my mom and dad work with the dogs training them and teaching them new stuff.

My favorite dog is Sipe’s Adelic, she is a small dog, she weighs about 38 pounds, she is black and white. My mom says she is the perfect dog, and I think she is right. Adele will play ball and Frisbee, she is sweet too, she plays in the yard with me and my cats after school.

When we started showing our dogs I kept hearing my mom and her friends talking about how some people were fighting dogs like Adele and that made me really mad. I didn’t really understand what it meant so I asked her what it meant to fight a dog. She told me that some people will take their dogs and put them in a room where they can’t run away or hide and make them fight. Sometimes, the dog that loses gets killed because it was a bad fighter. I know they would kill Adele because she would never hurt anything, she even sleeps with my cats. I asked my mom to promise to never sell Adele because I did not want someone bad like that to get her, she promised.

I could never ask Adele to do something like that, she loves me and I love her. I would not ask any person to hurt someone for me and she is just like a person.

My mom says there is not enough love in the world and that people are afraid of the dogs, when they should really be afraid of the people who fight them. My mom also says it is my responsibility to make sure that I take good care of Adele and protect her from people who think she is bad and dangerous just because she is an American Pit Bull terrier. I hope everyone of you will remember my sweet friend Adele and help me protect her from people who would hurt her or get her hurt. Even though you might have a little poodle or a big husky we are all friends and my Pit bull friends need your help.

I am sending a picture of me and Adele on the day I got her, my aunt Kristy Sipe gave her to me.

Dogue de Bordeaux

The Dogue de Bordeaux is one of the oldest French breeds. Its actual origins are obscure but it is probably descended from one of the strains of Mastiff-type dogs that accompanied Macedonian and Roman armies through Asia, Europe, and Britain. By the middle of the 19th century, the Dogue de Bordeaux was little known outside of Aquitaine where it was used to hunt large animals, such as boar; to fight; to guard homes and cattle; and in the service of butchers. The breed narrowly missed extinction during the two world wars but enjoyed a resurgence in the 1960's. Sometime in the early 1980's, the first Dogue de Bordeaux was imported to the United States.
