Top Junior Handler: Weight Pull 2006
Kayla Towery

To be top Junior Handler-
Well first it feels great! Throughout the year I've been able to get to know another persons
dog and spend time with my family.
At first it was kinda different because I didn't know what to do or what the dog was like. Then after awhile I got used to it. Going to so many places and meeting all the new people was really nice. Actually the second show I met a really good friend Lily, who I kept seeing throughout the year. Pulling also let me get to know my Aunt Shelly and Uncle Donnie better and share in what they really like to do. Star is a wonderful dog and she was the one that did great. I just learned to give her what she needed to hear to pull that much weight.
Going to Premiere was exciting and wonderful. My whole family came to watch me and support me. It doesn't matter what kind of dog, they seem to all getting out there and pulling.
I also got to see alot of the other events that went on. In all this year has been a fun time.

UKC's third most widely registered breed is the Bluetick Coonhound. It is most likely that the Bluetick is principally descended from the quick foxhounds of England with some introduction of the blood of various French hounds which were used for hunting big game. The French dogs were known as being very cold nosed. George Washington received five such French hounds from General Lafayette. Blueticks were originally registered with UKC as English. In 1946, at the request of the Bluetick fanciers, UKC began registering Blueticks as a separate breed. |
