Hello my name is Logan Stover from Hadley, Michigan. I am 11 years old and have been showing dogs since I was 3 years old. My dog Rowdy and I won Top Junior Handler in Agility for the year 2006. Rowdy is a 6-year-old cocker spaniel that we raised from the 1st day. He is a great dog, always there for me day or night. We have his mom, Foxy (my first show dog), and Dad, Chevy, both agility dogs. My parents own a dog training facility, so I can practice or play with my dog anytime. I had been working hard all last year trying to get points for agility so I could be invited to the Premier. We ended up 6th overall for points in 2006; I was runner up in the nation in 2005 for points. We had also been trying all year competing in AKC agility working on Rowdy’s Championship “MACH”. We went to a lot of shows in Ohio and Michigan preparing for both the Premier and the “MACH” Title. We are still competing in AKC with only 5 DQ’s to go to get the title. I also compete with Rowdy in CPE agility working on his C-ATCH title.
I was excited to go to the big Premier show to run the big run in agility for All-Stars. We were one of the first teams to run, Rowdy was on his “A” game that day. He ran clean and really fast! I knew we did good, I ran him back to our motor home and gave him some treats. He loves food. Then I had to wait…….wait for the results. I had not heard that they were announcing the awards, so I missed the presentation. But, when I did go to check on the awards, the only ribbon lying on the awards table was the big one, First place. I hoped and thought it was mine. I asked the lady in charge, she asked what my number was and confirmed it was ours. I was excited; I knew my dog could do it. I called my Dad back home and then went to get a photo of the big win.

Originally bred to retrieve from water, the modern Labrador Retriever has proven to be one of the most versatile breeds, excelling in hunt tests and field trials, in obedience and agility events, and also as service dogs. The ancestor of the Labrador Retriever was the St. John's Retriever, a smaller version of the Newfoundland. The Labrador Retriever was recognized by the United Kennel Club in 1947. |
