The Event Where History Is Made
Founded in 1960 in the Midwest, Autumn Oaks is the grandaddy of all UKC events. The UKC National Grand Champions of the six UKC recognized breeds are named at this hunt held each year on Labor Day Weekend.

Autumn Oaks brings together the outstanding coonhounds and handlers from the United States and Canada to participate in a Nite Hunt and Bench Show. This prestigious event is held over Labor Day weekend each year. It is directly sponsored by Autumn Oaks, Inc., working closely with a host club in the area. The location of Autumn Oaks is carefully selected on the basis of a club or clubs that can supply qualified Judges, good hunting territory, and a fairgrounds that has camping facilities, barns and meeting rooms to accommodate the thousands who attend. Autumn Oaks is a family affair and an event where old friends become reacquainted and new ones are made.
NITE HUNT: A one-night hunt run off in two nights. Only advanced entries are accepted for the Nite Hunt. Each year a maximum number of entries are accepted for each night’s hunt. A waiting list is utilized to accommodate more hunters wishing to enter this event. Those advanced entries received after entries have filled for each night, but received before the advertised advance entry deadline, will be put on the waiting list. Scores will be available for inspection after the awards ceremony on Sunday morning.
BENCH SHOW: A large UKC licensed Bench Show for Registered dogs, Pairs Class, Champions, Grand Champions and Dual Champions is held. In the Pairs Class, a male and female of the same breed are shown together. No UKC Championship points are awarded to the winners of the Pairs Class or the Grand Champion Class.
AUTUMN OAKS - SPECIAL TITLES
(A) UKC National Grand Nite Champion of Breed of the Year (one for each of the six coonhound breeds recognized by UKC). This degree may be earned only at the Autumn Oaks event held once a year. Only UKC recognized Grand Nite Champions compete for this title of excellence. The highest scoring cast winner of each breed, with plus points, is the National Grand Nite Champion of Breed of the Year. If no cast winner of each breed, then the highest scoring dog of each breed will be the winner.
(B) UKC National Grand Nite Champion of the Year. This degree may be earned only at the Autumn Oaks event held once a year. The highest scoring dog (with plus points) of the six National Grand Nite Champions of Breed of the Year is the UKC National Grand Nite Champion of the Year.
(C) UKC National Grand Show Champion of Breed of the Year (one for each of the six coonhound breeds recognized by UKC). This degree may be earned only at the Autumn Oaks event held once a year. Only UKC recognized Grand Show Champions compete for this title of excellence.
(D) UKC National Grand Show Champion of the Year. This degree may be earned only at the Autumn Oaks event held once a year. The dog receiving this award is selected from the six National Grand Show Champions of Breed of the Year.
Trophies awarded at Autumn Oaks include the following.
National Grand Nite Champions: National Grand Nite Champion of each breed, plus another trophy for the overall National Grand Nite Champion; Champion of Champions Hunt: First through third place; Registered Hunt: First through tenth place; National Grand Show Champions:
National Grand Show Champion of each breed, plus another trophy for the overall National Grand Show Champion; Champion Show: Best Male and Female of each breed plus Overall Champion Male and Female. Registered Show: Best Male and Female of each breed plus Best Male and Female of Show. Pairs Class: pair of matching awards for winner of Pairs Class. Distinctive rosettes for all Registered class winners. Dual Champion: Dual Champion breed winners receive distinctive rosettes. Overall Dual Champion winner receives a trophy.
