Titles of Excellence from UKC and Requirements to Earn ThemRevised January 1, 2008

The rules, regulations, classifications, classes and Championship points as recognized by the United Kennel Club are uniform throughout the United States and Canada. They are not given on a local or geographical basis. (All UKC Registered dogs, excluding coonhounds, are eligible to receive these degrees.)

The degrees of excellence as issued and recognized by the United Kennel Club, Inc. are:

1. UKC SQUIRREL CHAMPION (SQCH) — The official UKC points awarded in the registered portion of a UKC Licensed Cur & Feist Squirrel Event are as follows:

To be declared an official Squirrel Champion, a dog must have at least 100 UKC points recorded on the records in the UKC Championship Office and have at least one first place win in a UKC Licensed Cur and Feist Squirrel Event.

A dog must have a total score of plus points before they can receive Championship points. The ten high point cast winners from different casts will be judged the first ten winners.

2. UKC SHOW CHAMPION (CH) — The following points and classes have been established for the placement of a UKC Registered dog in order to earn Show Champion points:

Definition of Classes: Males and females are shown separately.

Puppy Class: Shall be for dogs six (6) months to one (1) year of age. The winner of this class will be awarded ten (10) points.

Junior Class: Shall be for dogs one year of age and under two years of age. The winner of the class will be awarded ten (10) points.

Senior Class: Shall be for dogs two years of age and over. The winner of this class will be awarded ten (10) points.

Best of Breed: Shall be selected from the winners of the Puppy, Junior and Senior Classes. The winner of this class shall be known as Best of Breed and shall be awarded ten (10) points.

Best Male or Female of Show: Shall be selected from the Best of Breed winners. The winner shall be known as Best Male or Female of Show and awarded fifteen (15) points.

A Show Champion will be a dog that has earned a minimum of 100 UKC recorded Championship points and one win with competition while showing for Best Male or Best Female. Points must have been earned under at least two different UKC Licensed Show Judges. Male and Female Show Champions are shown together.

3. UKC TREE CHAMPION (TRCH) — The official UKC points awarded in the Registered portion of a UKC Licensed Cur & Feist Treeing Contest are as follows:

To be declared an official Tree Champion, a dog must have at least 100 UKC points recorded on the records in the UKC Championship Office and have at least one first place win in a UKC licensed Treeing Contest.

4. UKC NITE CHAMPION (NITECH) — A dog may become a NITECH by entering UKC Cur and Feist Coon Events. The points for this title are earned in the same order as a Squirrel Champion spelled out in number one of this Section.

*5. UKC GRAND SQUIRREL CHAMPION (GRSQCH) — Earned by winning five (5) Champion wins at UKC Licensed Cur and Feist Squirrel Events. In this portion of the event, only Squirrel Champions compete against Squirrel Champions.

The number of dogs awarded Squirrel Champion wins toward their Grand Squirrel Champion degree will be based on the number of Squirrel Champions entered in the event.

Placements will only be given to Squirrel Champions who are cast winners with plus points. For example, in an event in which there are 45 Squirrel Champions entered, the three highest scoring Squirrel Champion cast winners with plus points would be given wins toward their Grand Squirrel Champion degree.

6. UKC GRAND SHOW CHAMPION (GRCH) — Earned by winning five (5) Champion of Champions show classes in at least five different UKC Licensed Bench Shows. Must be under at least three different Judges. Male and Female Grand Show Champions are shown together.

7. UKC GRAND TREE CHAMPION (GRTRCH) — A Tree Champion must win five (5) Champion category events to become a UKC Grand Tree Champion. If a Tree Champion dog has no competition in that class, the dog must out bark all open Registered dogs in order to receive a win towards Grand.

8. UKC GRAND NITE CHAMPION (GRNITECH) — Earned by winning five (5) Champion wins at UKC Licensed Cur and Feist Coon Events. In this portion of the event, only Nite Champions compete against Nite Champions.

About the UKC Cur-Feist Program

Performance Events tailored for the Cur and Feist breeds are based upon treeing game. The Cur / Feist Program actually offers three different performance events for evaluating these hard working tree dogs. The most popular of the events offered is the licensed Squirrel Hunt.
