World Championship Finals Location Announced | |
The UKC Coonhound Department is pleased to announce that the 2012 UKC World Championship Finals will be going to Louisiana. Its location at Hamel’s Park, outside of Shreveport, boasts a beautiful site and facility nestled alongside the Red River. This site will more than serve its purpose for such a prestigious event.
Officers and members of the 4-Way Coonhunter’s Association in Haughton are excited for the opportunity of hosting this prestigious event. More importantly, they are confident in that their selective list of guides will be very capable when it comes to placing all casts in their best hunting areas and where they will see coon. And that all hounds will have the opportunities, as they well deserve, to showcase their abilities when going for the most highly sought after title in the coonhound world.
The weekend’s event schedule will also offer UKC Slam events on Friday and Saturday nights. These events will be open to all UKC registered coonhounds that may be entered on the grounds. Additionally, they will offer record breaking added purses. The folks at the Shreveport – Bossier Sports Commission have offered an additional package of $1,500.00 to add to the $1,000.00 offered by Tri-Tronics and Purina for added purses for these events. A grand total of $2,500.00 ($1,200 per night) will be up for grabs in addition to Slam payouts. This will be a great opportunity and worth any trip to be a part of a very unique event.
History shows that this will be a first for the World Championship Finals in the state of Louisiana. The folks in Louisiana are very excited to have this event come to their area and is planning for a great turnout. The UKC is equally excited and looks forward to crowning the next World Champion in Cajun country. Come on down!
