October 15, 2009 – UKC Dock Jumping will now be available throughout the western part of the United States! Effective immediately, UKC Dock Jumping (Air Dog) titles may be earned at Splash Dog, as well as Ultimate Air Dog, events. On September 10, 2009, the United Kennel Club, Inc., and Splash Dogs LLC reached an agreement whereby Splash Dogs LLC, headquartered in Pittsburg, California, was recognized as a UKC club; and UKC registered and limited privilege dogs entered in their events will have the opportunity to earn UKC as well as Splash Dog titles.

“With both Splash Dogs and Ultimate Air Dogs working with UKC, our participants will have more opportunities to enjoy this great display of activity and instinct for their UKC dogs,” said UKC President Wayne Cavanaugh.

According to their website (www.splashdogs.com), Splash Dogs “is a nationally recognized dog enthusiast company that organizes and promotes dock jumping events across the United States. Splash Dogs strives to provide a family oriented competitive atmosphere. Splash Dogs is a sanctioning body for dock jumping and dock diving events. Splash Dogs tracks overall event and individual rankings as well as offering a multi level titling program for all participants.”

Please visit the UKC website to view the official rules and upcoming Dock Jumping events.

Plott Hound

Of the six breeds of UKC registered Coonhounds, only the Plott Hound doesn’t trace its ancestry to the foxhound; and of the breeds, we can be most certain of the Plott’s heritage and the men most responsible for its development. The ancestors of today’s Plott were used for boar hunting in Germany many years ago. Jonathon Plott left his native Germany and came to this country in 1750. For the rest of the story behind the modern Plott Hound, follow this link.
