UKC Field Reps to Meet on Rules Proposals | |
The United Kennel Club has invited all UKC Hunting Beagle Representatives to the UKC Headquarters in Kalamazoo, Michigan to review, discuss and decide on Rules Proposals submitted by UKC Beaglers. The meeting is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2009. Following are the proposals on the agenda for this meeting.
Hunting Beagle Rules Proposals 2010
(PROPOSAL 1)
(RULE 1) Eliminate time in - time out and minutes used box on scorecard. Handlers signatures verifies hunting time and scores to be correct. Space used for note keeping only.
(PROPOSAL 2)
(RULE 5a) Change to dog(s) must show hole or place of refuge. One of handlers must see rabbit take hole or place of refuge.
(PROPOSAL 3)
(RULE 2a) Change to first dog declared struck to receive 100 points. 70 points second, 70 points third, 70 points fourth.
(Split strike)
1 + 2: 90 points with dog(s) 3 and 4 striking in at 70 points.
1 + 2 + 3: 80 points with dog 4 striking in at 70 points.
1 + 2 + 3 + 4: all dogs strike in at 70 points.
(PROPOSAL 4)
(RULE 7c) Eliminate 10 minute
time-out rule before recasting.
(PROPOSAL 5)
(RULE 15b) Eliminate handler’s ability to call a dead track after a line has been called.
(PROPOSAL 6)
(RULE 15c) Change to when a line is called before or during a check, the line is declared dead until the check is recovered; if check is recovered the line shall be open for scoring.
(PROPOSAL 7)
(RULE 6b) Change the continuous five minutes of the hunt to continuous three minutes of the hunt.
(PROPOSAL 8)
(RULE 15b) Change the speed and drive part of this rule to state that a rabbit can be scored as many times as the dogs can completely circle it.
(PROPOSAL 9)
(RULE 10) Change the Master of Hounds format to allow the use of a Hunt Director in conjunction with a corresponding panel to rule on questions.
(PROPOSAL 10)
(RULE 6c) Change from three barks to five barks.
(PROPOSAL 11)
(RULE 6b) Combine to say: or with any accumulation of 10 minutes of not hunting.
(PROPOSAL 12)
(RULE 3d) Change to when handlers are faced with a split track situation, dogs that are on the first track hold their strike positions as earned and score speed and drive in accordance with rule (3a). Dogs that are declared to be on split track should immediately be caught and turned in on the first track for next available position(s) or, if all positions are taken, get 25 points.
(PROPOSAL 13)
(RULE 15b) Implement time frame for scoring Speed & Drive. Cast may score a line every so many minutes. (time frame to be determined)
Some rabbits just do not run circles, sometimes they run very large circles.
(PROPOSAL 14)
(RULE 13b) Change rule to state; Registered Winners Pack will hunt for two hours without the option of a one hour hunt.
