Sara Prudden
Advertising Coordinator

Sara has worked at UKC for 6 months - since late last December and recently graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Interior Design and a minor in Business. She came to UKC after a job-searching friend noticed a job listing in the paper and told her about it. "She knew I'd love it, so she filled me in. After looking for a while, it was great to get hired into such a successful company. And, of course, who wouldn't want to work for a company that loves dogs so much!"

Sara's job involves working in the magazine department as an ad coordinator and designer - speaking with advertisers, checking in and designing ads. Her favorite part about her job is talking to all of the people, from all walks of life. "Whether it's organizing their ad, filling their subscription or getting feedback from their ad, everyone seems to have something positive to say about UKC. It's also a great feeling when I can design an ad that a customer loves; they always let us know!"

Dogs have always been a part of Sara's family. She says she can't remember when she hasn't had them around. "They've just been companion dogs, but since working here, I think it would be fun to have a performance dog." At her home, Sara has a nine-month-old Rottweiler/German Shepherd mix. Her boyfriend's dog had a litter of seven. Scout was one of the smaller males and the last one left. After having to say good-bye to the first six, they couldn't give him away. "He's a bundle of energy and a big goofball who loves to play with anyone willing, especially other dogs!"

Outside of work, Sara enjoys time with family and friends, taking Scout to the park, traveling, camping, cooking, fishing and just enjoying the outdoors.

Sara has not yet traveled for UKC to any events, but I'm looking forward to traveling in the near future and meeting all of the advertisers I talk to on a regular basis.

What excites Sara about UKC is that we have a great team that's always working to improve the company. "Whether it's a new idea or strategy to help customers, a new program or even just improvements to the office, there's always something new and exciting going on. It's fun to see what UKC has in store for its customers and employees!"

Bluetick Coonhound

UKC's third most widely registered breed is the Bluetick Coonhound. It is most likely that the Bluetick is principally descended from the quick foxhounds of England with some introduction of the blood of various French hounds which were used for hunting big game. The French dogs were known as being very cold nosed. George Washington received five such French hounds from General Lafayette. Blueticks were originally registered with UKC as English. In 1946, at the request of the Bluetick fanciers, UKC began registering Blueticks as a separate breed.
