Carol Wiedmayer
UKC Registration Department
Carol Wiedmayer has been at UKC since April of 2005 and love for animals was one of the things that drew Carol here. She says, “I have learned more about dogs in the past four years than I ever dreamed. Especially how many different breeds of dogs there actually are and the terminology that goes along with those different breeds.”
Carol’s job at UKC involves proofing daily registration work as well as next day air work, corrections, writing up, applying money, and completing litter applications, singles and transfers. Carol enjoys assisting her fellow co-workers with anything that comes up as well.
When asked her favorite part of the job, Carol says, “Coming in each day and working with the best group of people who always encourage you, teach and share their knowledge in helping you to do the best job you possibly can. Also, the best part, is working the PREMIER each year and meeting the breeders and owners of the dogs I get to register. It has been a life changing experience and I look forward to it every year starting with the day after.”
Prior to UKC Carol worked for Kalamazoo Animal Hospital for three years which gave her some knowledge as to certain breeds and the different health concerns that are addressed with each breed.
Carol currently only has four cats, but someday would like to introduce a pup to the household. As many of her fellow coworkers can attest to, it will be a hard choice as she wants to bring all dogs home and she says “I don't think my house/yard is big enough for that!” She does currently have her eye on a certain breed and hopes to bring home a puppy within the next year. “Mostly to keep my feline family on their toes and to let them know there is room at the Wiedmayer household for a variety.”
Carol is an active member at her local church and enjoys volunteering her time with all the events and in liturgy throughout the year. She also teaches 1st grade Sunday school. Carol loves to crochet baby blankets, cat and dog toys, and scarves for the Gospel Mission. Family is important, and she enjoys spending time with her large immediate and extended family as well as her friends. Carol says no matter the activity, “family is where its at.”
Carol says “I would like to become more knowledgeable with all the breeds we register and their standards so I’m better equipped to answer any questions that might come my way.”
In regard to UKC’s growth and new ideas, she enjoys seeing the company putting forth 150% in everything we do to help our dog owners/breeders experience the finest we have to offer. She admires that UKC is always striving to be better than we were the day/year before. Carol says, “If we don't provide something that is of interest to our customers, then we work to find a way to make it possible to provide that service for them.”
Each month, United Kennel Club honors an employee for their contributions towards making UKC the world’s best registry of purebred dogs, offering our customers the most efficient and creative services possible. Employees of the month are selected by a cross-departmental consensus and deserve special recognition for being great examples of dedication behind the scenes at UKC!

The American Pit Bull Terrier is UKC's second most widely registered breed. Originally developed during the nineteenth century to be a combination of the gameness of the terrier with the strength and athleticism of the Bulldog, the APBT embodies all of the virtues attributed to great warriors: strength, indomitable courage, and gentleness with loved ones. The first APBT ever registered belonged to UKC founder, C. Z. Bennett, who assigned UKC registration number 1 to his own APBT, Bennett's Ring in 1898. |
