2008 Southwest Georgia French Brittany Classic
The classic got off to a slow start this year but came out looking good in the end. We were again very fortunate to have the opportunity to visit the W. C. Bradley Plantation in Omaha, GA for our annual field trial. Our judges for this year were Head Judge Mr. Butch Nelson, from MT, who was assisted by Mark Dinsmore from Minnesota. They did an outstanding job of making the best out of a “Blue bird day.” As usual the grounds were beautifully prepared by Mr. Dan Fletcher the Resource manager for W.C. Bradley. Of course we can’t forget to thank Mr. Miller and Mr. Turner of the Bradley Company for their allowing us to use the facilities.
Special thanks to those who contributed so ably to help keep the event going by planting birds, taking people out to the field, making food arrangements and for obtaining the fine shooters that we had for the day. Some of those contributing were Fred Overby, Cecil Whitaker, Bill Wall, Dudley Horton, and others. Without their assistance the event would not have been successful. It was a great day enjoyed by all that came. It was especially great to see so many families in attendance. We hope that we can continue to this involvement of our families in this wonderful activity.
Unfortunately we did not have that many placements during the day but still everyone enjoyed watching the dogs run and seeing the new litter of Epagneul Breton’s which was brought by Jackie Hutwagner. If you didn’t attend this year, I hope you will make plans to present next year as we are planning on doing several first for our club and for any regional club of FBGDA so stayed tuned for more information as it becomes available.
