APBT Single Registration

For a dog that is not already registered with UKC as part of a litter, and whose parents are not both UKC registered, we do offer Single Registration. The rules for Single Registration for the American Pit Bull Terrier are as follows:

    1. The dog must be at least one year of age

    2. Completed UKC "American Pit Bull Terrier Application for Single Registration"

    3. Copy of registration certificate from UKC recognized registry. For APBT we recognize the American Kennel Club, American Dog Breeders Association (ADBA), The Kennel Club, The Canadian Kennel Club or any FCI registry.

    4. Copy of your dog's complete three generation pedigree (photocopy or handwritten pedigree is acceptable)

    5. Three color photos (one of each side and one from the front in a standing position)

    6. The dog must be inspected by an approved UKC inspector. View Inspectors List for contact information for the inspector in your area.If an inspector is not available in your area a 20 minute VHS video or DVD presentation may be submitted in lieu of the inspection. The video should be filmed in a public place showing your dog interacting with other dogs and people not known to him. Please do not send 8mm tapes.
These requirements are needed to register a dog with UKC; examinations and DNA profiling are not sufficient to register with UKC. A dog without a complete three generation pedigree and registration with an approved registry will not be considered for registration with UKC.

American Black & Tan Coonhound

The Black & Tan is one of many tracking breeds that was developed in the south of the United States. The breed can trace its immediate ancestry to the American Foxhound and the Virginia Foxhound of colonial days, with probably the introduction of some Bloodhound stock. This latter would explain not only the coloration of the Black & Tan, but its tendency toward being larger-boned than other breeds, its long ears, and its famous cold nose. The American Black & Tan was the first coonhound breed to be admitted into registry with UKC. When they were first registered in 1900, and for several years after that, they were registered as American Black & Tan Fox & Coonhounds.
