William D Gunn, Sandy, retired after 31 years as a university professor and lives with his wife Kirsten, their four Pointers, one JRT, two Tennessee Walking Horses and two rescue donkeys on a 68 acre hobby farm in Norwood, Ontario, Canada. He has judged in Argentina twice, Australia twice, Bermuda, throughout Canada, Colombia, in China twice, England three times, Ireland twice, New Zealand twice, Scotland, and throughout the USA in both UKC and AKC shows and trials.
Sandy is equally involved in conformation judging and pointing breed field trial and hunt tests for which he is has been approved by the AKC, CKC, UKC, NSTRA, the Kennel Club (UK) and the New Zealand Kennel Club (for their wild bird trials). He has the distinction of having judged the first of the United Kennel Club’s championship trials in its Pointing Breed Program and many subsequent annual trials and Tans especially for the Epagneul Bretons.
In 1971, after a 30 year involvement with hunting and working dogs, Sandy started in conformation with Gordon Setters and Pointers, as a breeder, exhibitor, and handler. Granted permit status for the first half of the Sporting Group in September of 1988, he is now C.K.C. approved for all breeds in Sporting Group, Hound Group, Working Group, Toy Group, Non-Sporting Group and is on permit for all of the breeds in the Herding Group and has judged all breeds, and a number of National and Regional Breed Specialties in FCI countries.
