The Portuguese Pointer Cub of America held a TAN/Field Trial on the grounds of Wallingford Rod & Gun Club in Wallingford, CT on March 28, 2010.

This was our most successful hunt test yet with a total entry of 22 dogs. 16 dogs ran in the gundog class (5 combo) and 6 in the TAN. 8 qualified in the gundog class and a total of 8 TAN titles were awarded, 4 from the TAN class and 4 from the combo.

High in Trial and Reserve High in Trial were awarded to a pair of Brittany's owned by Danny and Donna Cordero of Marlborough, NY. Sarseans Rockin Z Nite Away (Zita) and Swift River Rockin Roscoe were HIT and RHIT, respectively. With these placements, Zita completed the UKC requirements for the GUN title and Roscoe the HUNT title.

UKC Judge Susan O'Donnell had a long day of judging as we started at 8:00 and ran until almost 5 pm. We had some first time exhibitors who were a bit nervous, but she put them at ease and reminded everyone we were there to have fun with our dogs. Three of the first time entrants qualified in the gundog combo.

The weather cooperated as the rain held off and it was a chilly March Sunday. While uncomfortable for the humans waiting around, it was perfect conditions for running dogs. Both PPCA members and non members contributed food for the hot dog roast. Everyone had a good time talking dogs.
