As of March 2012, Conformation judges must attend a UKC judge’s education seminar every three years to keep their active status. This education requirement has been increased to every 5 years beginning January 1, 2013.
Five years gives a more practical time frame for judges to maintain their educational status. Any judge who has attended a UKC judge’s educational seminar since October of 2010 will be grandfathered in to the 5 year requirement. i.e. A judge attended a seminar in October of 2010 so will not be due to attend another UKC seminar until 2015.
Judges may attend as many UKC seminars as they wish during the five year period. It is important to always exchange knowledge and get to know fellow judges, but it is also critical to UKC that our judges embrace and become familiar with our unique philosophy in regards to dog shows, judging conformation and the message that we are so passionate about.
To encourage this; judges will only be charged the enrollment fee for the first seminar they attend within the 5 year period. This will also be the date recorded for meeting UKC’s judge’s educational requirement. Once the 5 year period is set to, or has expired, judges must attend a UKC seminar in order to maintain their active status and will be required to pay the enrollment fee again.
