Trial Secretary Rule Change effective July 1st - SUSPENDED for all Performance Events
Posted on 01/09/2012 in DED News.
Thank you so much for all of your calls, emails and posts to our messages boards and Facebook page regarding the new rule prohibiting Trial Secretaries from handling dogs at events in which they are serving in that capacity. This rule was going to go into effect on July 1st, 2012 however after listening to all of your concerns the effective date will be suspended for the time being for all PERFORMANCE events until further research can be conducted on how to effectively manage a UKC event and allow for participation in that event at the same time. The rule will still go into effect on July 1st for all CONFORMATION events.
UKC would love to hear your suggestions for answers to some of the problems that we are facing as an organization. You as our exhibitors, club members and Trial Secretaries now have the opportunity to address these issues by providing reasonable and sustainable solutions. The needs of the exhibitors are not being met at quite a few events and event paperwork is coming in disorganized, illegible, or missing entirely. Complaints are being received from exhibitors that no one is available at trials to process move-ups, class changes, or even to take an entry for the next day’s trial.
A qualified individual must remain at the table attending to the paperwork and the exhibitors for the ENTIRE show/trial. What do you suggest? What are your thoughts? How can we make this better? What can your club do? Your suggestions should be well thought out and organized, encompassing a wide and diverse audience and that can be applied to multiple events.
To submit your suggestions please adhere to the following format so that they can be handled efficiently. Only written correspondence sent directly to this email address or mailed into the office will be considered. No suggestion will be taken from a message board, judge’s list or any other type of social media. Any further correspondence containing complaints and no suggestion for a solution to the problem will not be addressed or responded to.

Again, thank you all for sending in your thoughts regarding this rule change for the performance events; it is very much appreciated. Now is the time to make some positive change. It’s in your hands! As Wayne Cavanaugh routinely says to all of us here at UKC “Go forth and be spectacular!”
