KALAMAZOO, MICHIGAN. November 2, 2012 - Effective immediately, the requirement to have split judging for clubs offering two shows per day, with two rings, has been amended to allow clubs to use either option; that is, clubs may use either split judging or one judge per show.
UKC solicited and reviewed positive and professionally constructive opinions from UKC Event Advocates, judges, clubs, and staff in making this amendment. While UKC wants its licensed shows to run as consistently as possible, during this time of continued growth, we understand that what might work for one club's circumstances may not work for another.
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind UKC licensed clubs that the UKC Event Advocate Program is in a position to assist clubs with training and hosting successful shows. UKC Event Advocates share their knowledge and experience with clubs regarding the tasks and responsibilities of hosting efficient, effective, family oriented, fun dog shows. UKC firmly believes club education will accomplish that goal. If a club would like to have an Event Advocate come out and assist and educate their members on hosting a show please contact Maude Tank by email at email@example.com.
Tony Vacha, Executive Director, Conformation Events at United Kennel Club said: “I and the entire UKC Staff are firm believers of continuing education. You never stop learning in life and we all learn from each other. I can tell you this past year has been a challenge and has opened my eyes to many many things. I have learned a lot from everyone. Every day, I am looking for ways to make our events better. I am here for our exhibitors and clubs, and welcome their ideas/suggestions/praise and yes, even their constructive complaints. I know that together we can continue to make UKC events the best in the world.”
