Lara Simonsen
Media Coordinator
Lara has worked at UKC two and a half years. She originally joined the company as the receptionist but was later moved to a brand new position, media coordinator, where she could be much more creative. She was drawn to UKC because of its reputation – "The fact that the company has been around for over 100 years is extremely impressive,” she said. Lara just recently finished researching the history of the registry in hopes of making sure its founders are remembered for years to come. “It’s a story of hard work and determination, truly a fine example of the American dream,” she said.
Lara's job involves every department of the company. A good majority of her time is spent working on UKC Productions. Throughout the year, UKC sends our staff to numerous events all over the country and films the highlights of the weekends, with the hope that those videos will give people a good idea of what UKC events are like. Along with managing the UKC Facebook page, Lara also works on keeping the UKC website up to date and accurate, as well as brainstorming ways to make it the best it can possibly be.
Currently, Lara has a Beagle named Walker and would like to have another dog in the future. He’s too tall to participate in UKC Hunting Beagle events, but she would love to have him try Lure Coursing, Dock Jumping and Weight Pull. As far as hobbies go, Lara enjoys snowmobiling, boating, jet skiing, and basically anything that gives her an excuse to enjoy Michigan’s outdoor life.
Lara just recently joined the travel team. She has worked such events as UKC PREMIER, Winter Classic and Black & Tan Days. She really enjoys meeting the customers and seeing all the different breeds and events UKC has to offer. “There truly is something for every dog owner out there,” Lara said. She feels that UKC really is a family-friendly atmosphere and is thrilled to be a part of it. Whether she’s working at an event or editing video, she hopes to help demonstrate the UKC philosophy, Real Dogs for Real People! TM
