October 15, 2009 – Effective January 1, 2010, an Altered Conformation Program will be added to the United Kennel Club, Inc.’s already dog-friendly, progressive competition programs.

Purebred, spayed and neutered UKC registered dogs will have the opportunity to earn Altered Conformation titles at UKC Conformation events where Altered Conformation Classes are offered. UKC Conformation Clubs are encouraged to offer Altered classes whenever possible. The purpose of these classes is to enable owners of spayed or neutered dogs to get an evaluation of their dogs’ conformation, and to enable breeders to see a wider range of dogs resulting from their breeding programs. In addition, they offer an opportunity to earn additional titles on dogs that have already earned their regular conformation titles and then were spayed or neutered, thus ending their show careers. As in regular conformation classes, all dogs entered in these classes must meet the standard for their breeds.

Please visit the UKC website to view the official rules and to see which clubs are offering Altered classes.
