KALAMAZOO, MI, Feb. 10, 2012 – It is with regret that UKC will be dissolving the UKC Merit Club Program. No further nominations will be accepted for 2012. We would like to thank all of our exhibitors who have participated in the program over the years.

Declining participation in the program is the primary reason why the decision was made to discontinue the Merit Club. While the program certainly contains a loyal following the growth of the program has ceased to exist.

At the United Kennel Club the idea of promoting the Total Dog is paramount. While the Merit Club promoted showing a dog in a variety of events the Merit Club did not have the impact UKC expected to see in the number of Total Dog participants. As Total Dog is becoming a primary focus for UKC, efforts are being made to offer a greater variety of events to promote a well-rounded Total Dog.

Established in 1898, the United Kennel Club is the largest all-breed performance-dog registry in the world, registering dogs from all 50 states and 25 foreign countries. More than 60 percent of its 15,000 annually licensed events are tests of hunting ability, training, and instinct. UNITED KENNEL CLUB prides itself on its family-oriented, friendly, educational events. To find out more about registration and events, call or visit our website.
