The Decatur County Coon Hunters Club and United Kennel Club will once again join forces with the goal of working towards continued success for coonhunting’s premier benefit event. Billed as “The Decatur County World’s Largest Coon Hunt Benefit For St. Jude”, this historic event will feature a UKC licensed Nite Hunt and Bench Show amongst a wide variety of other popular activities to raise money for one of the most deserving charities in the world; The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude event officials have been working closely with the UKC Staff to give this historic event the boost it needs to be successful long into the future.

Held annually in Parsons, Tennessee, at the Decatur County Fairgrounds and Convention Center, this event is unique in the sport of coonhounds because of the huge outpouring of community support it receives from the non-coonhunting public. While it’s not unusual for a community to pull together for a good cause, it is unusual for the primary activity to be coonhound event. The UKC licensed portions of this event will feature many of the top coonhounds from around the country. The non-licensed portion features a youth hunt, a ladies hunt, water races and treeing contests. Dating back to 1976 this event has raised in excess of $2.3 million dollars for the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“We hope that by licensing our nite hunt and bench show with United Kennel Club that it will give our coonhound event entries a shot in the arm,” said event coordinator Mike Creasy. “The more hunters we have in attendance, the more revenue we can raise for the kids of St. Jude”. United Kennel Club is anxious to work with the Decatur County Coon Hunters staff in promoting The World’s Largest Coon Hunt Benefit For St. Jude. Save the date of April 10th through the 14th for 2014 and watch Coonhound Bloodlines magazine and the UKC website for event details.

Established in 1898, the United Kennel Club is the largest all-breed performance-dog registry in the world, registering dogs from all 50 states and 25 foreign countries. More than 60 percent of its 15,500 annually licensed events are tests of hunting ability, training, and instinct. UNITED KENNEL CLUB prides itself on its family-oriented, friendly, educational events. To find out more about registration and events, call or visit our website.
