01/01/2006: Dog Moving From Tree to Tree, Dogs Declared Treed / Coon Caught, Reminder to Clubs Regarding Formal Complaints and Honesty and IntegrityQ: Four dogs in a cast are declared struck. Dogs A, B, C and D are declared treed in that order. The cast members arrive at the tree and find Dogs A and B are on one tree and Dog C is treed on a separate tree. Meanwhile, Dog D is running back and forth between the two trees barking treed. It is determined that both trees run into each other, therefore, the decision is made to score both trees as one. How should Dog D be scored, who is running back and forth between both trees? DW / IN
12/12/2005: Scratch or Minus, Babbling, and BellsQ: In a four dog cast, dogs A, B and C are declared struck. Dog D falls treed and is declared treed without being declared struck by the handler. Is the dog scratched for not being declared struck first?
11/12/2005: Communications Policy and Minusing Dogs For Quitting A TrackQ: In a four dog cast, dogs A and B are declared treed. Dogs C and D go up the creek another 500 feet and are called treed. All dogs are declared treed and we start to them. Dogs A and B leave their tree and go to dogs C and D. They are declared treed again. I minused dogs A and B for leaving the first tree and when we got to dogs C and D, all dogs were on the same tree. I drew a line through dogs A and B tree points and minused their strike points because a coon was seen. Handler’s A and B said that they still had two minutes left on the tree but I say all dogs were declared treed so all trees were closed. Am I right? It would not have made a difference in the outcome as all dogs were scratched for off-game ten minutes later. KB / OH

The cast finds dog D is also treed on the same tree but was not declared treed. How do you score dog D? CP/GA

Recently, a question surfaced involving a situation that could very easily happen, and yet the rules do not clearly define what to do in the event that it did happen.
08/12/2005: Youth and Parents and Eight MinutesYou would think after all these years of applying the Nite Hunt Honor Rules that every question would have a solid, though admittedly not always easy, answer. It seems logical that every situation that could come up would have already been addressed with the addition of a rule to cover it. NOT.
07/06/2005: Judges, Drawing Casts and Judges, Immediate Family and 2-1-1 Votes. We have received several phone calls and complaints as of late concerning Judges. They’ve mainly been regarding not having a good Judge to judge a cast or no one in the cast really wanting to take on the responsibility. Maybe we can offer some suggestions that might help if this is a problem at your club.

05/06/2005: Important Entry Information For Licensed Officials and Club Officers, The Apprentice, A Class Win Is All I Need and SpectatorsLately we’ve gotten a few calls from Officials where participants have been trying to enter dogs without papers, with copies or with improper papers. Obviously there are a few different ways to enter a dog. The three most common are with the Registration Certificate, the UKC Easy Entry™ Card and Registration Certificate and degree. Obviously copies, and Certificate and Degree, without registration papers will not be accepted.
